How I work
As an Integrative Arts Psychotherapist I bring a unique element to the way I work. I use different theories and creativity to support my practice. In my sessions I create an environment that is safe to explore all aspects of yourself. Through talking and the use of creativity we will work together to explore those painful memories that have had an impact on your daily life so that you can connect with yourself and others around you. Therapeutically my specialism is depression, low self-worth, relationship difficulties, identity, sexuality, attachment and loss. This way of working works well with teenagers and adults. I currently hold all my sessions online via zoom which is a secure site.
How can I help
I know from my own experience and profession how difficult it is to control painful memories from the past. If these painful memories are not addressed, they can have a negative impact on our daily lives. Having relationships with friends, family and partners are very important and when they are fractured it can shape how we see the world and others around us.
Integrative Psychotherapy & Counselling
The difference between integrative psychotherapy and counselling, is that integrative psychotherapy is a self - expressive therapy. It involves talking and the use of different creative tools to support you to understand, express and resolve your thoughts and emotions. It also draws on several theories for example psychodynamic, person-centred, transactional analysis, attachment and gestalt theory.
Psychotherapy explores your back story for the root cause of your presenting difficulties. It deals with more complex issue (s) for example depression, PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder) and anxiety etc. This is normally long term and on a regular basis, this type of therapy involves a deep connection between us to enable exploration into the issues you bring.
Counselling may be connected to a particular issue for example relationships, low self-esteem, and building coping strategies. Counselling is normally a short-term solution to the issues you bring.
These are some of the issues I can help with:
Relationship difficulties
Isolation
Low self-esteem
Depression
Anxiety
Panic attacks
Traumatic life events
Abuse: sexual, emotional & domestic
Attachment and separation
Same sex relationship difficulties
Emotions that impact on your way of relating: guilt, sadness, anger, shame and rage.
Therapy sessions
Individual sessions are 50 minutes and couple sessions are 60 minutes. Sessions can be weekly or fortnightly depending on the needs of the clients. I offer long or short-term therapy and counselling depending on individual circumstances. Additionally, a 30-minute consultation session is required to ascertain if we can work together.
